NEST PROTECT HELPS PROTECT GRAHAM FAMILY MEMBER

Think Nest products are only used by younger generations? Our Cardiff Ocean Park Assistant Branch Manager, Adam Sutherwood, has got a story that’ll change your mind!

Adam’s father suffers from a rare form of dementia, known as Pick’s disease. The family wanted to let him continue living in his own home and have his independence, but chose to install the Nest Protect and Nest Cam indoor just in case.

This allowed Adam and his brother to keep an eye on their dad from their own homes, without disrupting his life. It also helped them to save his life.

A close call

One day, Adam’s brother received an alert to his phone early in the morning that the Nest Protect had detected smoke in his dad’s home, and when he checked the camera he could see smoke pouring out of the microwave and a flicker of flames.

Within five minutes, the family reached the house and managed to put out the fire, and they couldn’t be more grateful to Nest for the help from their products.

“Without the Nest smoke alarm and cameras, it’s safe to say that Dad wouldn’t be here now! And neither would his house!” said Adam. “I can’t put it any other way, but Nest simply saved our dad. Without this amazing bit of kit, things could have ended differently, so on behalf of the Sutherwood family, a massive thank you Nest!”
